I believe in a very personalized approach to helping students find and get into the school of their choice. With an extremely wide and worldly background of educational and life experiences at my disposal, I seek to help guide a limited number of students each year to understand what it is that makes them happy in general and what that would translate into for a college experience.
I also encourage all my students to discover their own passion in life and use it to help others. A key component of my advising is my “Turn Your Passion Into Action.” In this program, I help students explore and discover their life passions and guide them to find ways to use their own talents and abilities to lead and make an impact in their community at large.
Finally, I believe it is important to get to know my students as individuals and help them understand what factors in a college would make them individually happy and successful. I guide students to look beyond the school’s name and reputation alone in order to ensure they find a good fit.
My goal is not only to help students get into a great school, but more importantly select and be accepted into the RIGHT school for their future happiness and success.
Factors we discuss in the college selection process:
EAST COAST vs. WEST COAST
DEMOGRAPHICS
BIG CITY vs. SMALL TOWN
PRIVATE vs. PUBLIC
CLIMATE
ACADEMIC RIGOR
UNIVERSITY SIZE
UNIVERSITY CULTURE
TUITION
and more...
Nadia has been teaching and inspiring college-bound students for over twenty years. As the youngest of seven siblings from a very ambitious family, the importance of education and following one’s passion has always been a pillar of her upbringing. Nadia was able to turn her affinity for language and culture into action and ultimately be accepted into her dream school- Duke University. She graduated cum laude with a major in Markets and Management.
Her passion and strength have always been connecting with her students, not only through her teaching style, but also through informal mentorships and helping many high school students discover happiness and success through her “Turn Your Passion into Action” program. She helped high school students share their talents with the underprivileged in the Hispanic community by forming a non profit organization called Spectrum Outreach and led youth volunteer trips to Spain, Ecuador and Peru. Having traveled to over sixty countries around the world and having lived in Spain, Italy, France, and Turkey, she brings a unique and worldly vision to her students in her college advising practice.
Over the last 20 years, she has taught over 2000 students in multiple subjects including SAT prep, Spanish, Italian, ESL and English grammar and composition, continually focused on the leading edge of what colleges and universities are seeking in prospective students. She serves on the Duke University Alumni Committee for interviewing prospective students and speaks annually at college knowledge night on “Attending an East Coast College“ and “Turn Your Passion into Action.“
Finally, she is fortunate to have the support of a former assistant director of admissions at USC and twenty year veteran of private college advising serving on her board as an associate.
